Following the 2009 bicentenary year of Charles Darwin’s birth and the 150th anniversary of the publication ‘On the Origins of Species’, Shrewsbury’s annual Darwin Festival returns with a full programme of events. Scroll down and take a look.

This year the seventh annual Darwin Festival takes places over a long weekend from 12th - 14th February 2010.

Dance workshops for the Beagle Ball, 13th, 20th, & 29th September

6.30 to 8.00pm at The Lion Hotel

On 3rd October a Ball will be held at The Lion Hotel to celebrate the return of Charles Darwin from The Beagle in October 1836.

These professionally-led dance workshops are for anyone interested in learning and performing dances of the period at the Ball.

All tickets 25.00 GBP, including a buffet and an evening entertainment and celebration. The Beagle Ball tickets are on sale at the Lion Hotel reception and the Visitor Information Centre at Rowley's House. Alternatively contact Shrewsbury Heritage
