The Little Book of Darwin shows that almost everything contained in his theory can be traced directly back to Charles' formative years, here, in Shropshire's noble heart.
Charles Darwin was born at Mount House in Shrewsbury on 12th February 1809 and spent the first 27 years of his life in the town. Darwin's early life inspired his facination with the natural world leading to his theories of evolution.
A very warm welcome to the 2013 Shrewsbury Summer Season which sees, for the first time ever, events at the newly opened Theatre Severn and at venues all around the town combined to create a summer long celebration of the arts and culture of unparalleled quality and breadth.
As Darwin (who was born in Shrewsbury) would have been the first to tell you, evolution is getting better through successive generations but modern Shrewsbury is not a museum. People love the town because it contains so much life - and because it manages to combine the old and new so admirably.
This handy Shrewsbury Town Map and Places to Visit is a handy pocket-sized leaflet, with information about the best things to do and places to see within our charming county town.
